About Kim

Somewhere during the bleak days in my investment banking past, I switched from the Kim of my youth to Kimberley. We are defined by nouns and verbs. I have many definitions: playwright, director, actor, scenic designer, lighting designer, website designer, theater events producer, arts programmer, stage manager, fiction writer, teacher, singer, curriculum writer, creative non-fiction writer, poet, daughter, sister. I have lived as a meeting planner and a properties artisan but not simultaneously.

I have a BA in English/Fine Arts from Loyola University and I'm working on my MFA in Creative Writing and Publishing Design at the University of Baltimore. Over thirty productions of my plays have been performed in Baltimore, Washington D.C., New York and Minneapolis. I am a member of Actors' Equity and the Dramatists Guild. Apprentice House published my play A Dickens of a Carol in November 2009 and my ghost novel, Dredging the Choptank in May 2010.

I'm a native Baltimorean. The best outcome from writing Dredging was my recognition of how geography impacts voice and sculpts the songs we sing.
